Collaborative Performance with Oei Kim

Under the name and role of "visual massagist," the two visual masseuses transformed the gallery space into a place where the audience could either give or receive massages. They created a localised platform called “Anmasa” and served as masseuses.

 

The exhibition centred on objects designed to evoke tactile responses through visual perception, as well as on objects specifically created for massage. The performance explored how haptic hallucinations—internal sensory reactions between the object and the participant—could lead to a process of visualising touch.

Through this, the two visual massagist examined how the object's body could possess a sense of depth. This depth referred to the process of mediation between the body and the object, while simultaneously adjusting the weight, volume, surface area, and method of use created by that mediation.
