Sensory Wall is a sensorial communication tool designed to provide multisensory therapeutic stimulation, enabling positive emotional interaction for people with dementia who can no longer engage in everyday communication.  

 

To create meaningful communication and appropriate multisensory stimulation for people with dementia, the researcher closely observed and deeply empathised with their cultural relevance and familiar associations, collaborating with dementia care professionals and communities to co-design the process.

 

Throughout the process, the researcher explored the Sensory Wall through workshops, interviews, and observations, and evaluated its user experience with the dementia community and care professionals.

By combining soft, static materials with elements of illumination and sound, the researcher designed the material to actively respond and support meaningful communication for people with dementia.

 

This project aims to discover and explore new, intuitive possibilities for communication through materials that can actively respond, thereby stimulating cognitive functions and multisensory perception in people with dementia.​​​​
